Computational Design of Protein-cofactor Complexes
An international conference in conclusion of the ERC project “PS3 - An artificial water-soluble photosystem by protein design”

In 2014, we started the PS3 project aiming at constructing a protein-based solar energy conversion system by implementing the engineering guidelines of natural photosynthesis. Our strategy for achieving this highly ambitious goal was based on designing water-soluble analogues of the natural light-harvesting and reaction center complexes as building blocks for assembling a water-soluble photosystem. Thus, we set out to design and construct multi cofactor photo- and redox-active protein complexes. Now, at the conclusion of the project, we invite you to an international meeting to share the achievements with our colleagues, and discuss the great challenges and prospects that lie ahead in de novo design of functional light harvesting and electron transfer proteins.
